One of the game reserves in South Africa, Dikhololo is also a resort destination for families and business conferences. Accommodation at the Dikhololo Game Reserve is mostly self-catering, organized into camps. As well as guided drives of the reserve to view the wildlife, people who stay at Dikhololo can also find features like swimming pools and sports facilities.
The Northwest Province of South Africa is home to many lodges and game reserves. Dikhololo Game Reserve is one of these reserves, with a large lodge, self-catering chalets and extra activities for visitors on vacation. The reserve also caters to businessmen and corporate groups.
Accessible by car from the major South African cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg, the reserve is closest to Britstown. As the accommodation is primarily self-catering, most visitors stay for a week or a weekend. Individual chalets are available for rent, with room for up to eight people each. The Dikhololo Game Reserve, to provide entertainment for visitors besides the natural beauty of the reserve itself, have the chalets divided into camps, with amenities like swimming pools.
Each chalet has television, a thatched roof and a housekeeping service, but guests have to supply and cook their own food. All the camps provide outdoor barbecues, or braais. At the main complex of the resort, sports amenities, a water slide, and evening entertainment is available. When the South African schools close for holidays, kids entertainment is also put on.
Every day, the Dikhololo Game Reserve provides guided tours of the natural reserve. Altogether, the land inside the reserve stretches for about 1120 acres (450 hectares). Large African mammals like eland, giraffe, and zebra live in the reserve, and visitors can spot them from the open-sided tour vehicles.
Corporate groups also visit Dikhololo Game Reserve, as the lodge has conference facilities that, individually, can hold up to 350 people at a time. For team days out, the reserve also holds team building activities. These activities include survival training and quad bikes. Treasure hunts and sporty activities like archery are also available as options.
Dikhololo Game Reserve does not provide safari type vacations, apart from the daily game viewing trips. Visitors can drive their own cars on the reserve, but because of safety concerns, this is only allowed during the day. As well as wildlife on the reserve itself, nearby attractions include a cheetah sanctuary, a working farm that produces cheese, and a lion park.
